Sometimes a topic finds you more than once within just a few days.
Last week I got to interview Juergen Kast from xpand Deutschland. We talked about leadership development and about what xpand does differently from many classic consultancies.
One thought stuck with me in particular: it isn't the methods that are the most valuable thing people take away from leadership development. It's the connection. The feeling of not going through change alone. Being able to ask questions, having an ear to lend, and thinking through difficult things together.
Yesterday I then had the pleasure of speaking with Lorina Brugger 🎉. She, too, is deeply engaged with the topic of connection — with the same conviction and enthusiasm.
I've thought a lot about this and realized why it moves me so much right now. I'm in a phase myself where it isn't yet clear where the path leads. There are a lot of open questions.
The moments that give me a sense of security in this time are the ones where genuine connection happens. With people who have accompanied me for a long time. But just as much with people I've only just met, and with whom an honest exchange has emerged within a very short time.
That's exactly where I feel confidence, joy and trust.
Especially when we talk about AI, automation and transformation, we understandably invest a lot of time in technologies and skills. I believe we should invest at least as much in our ability to build genuine connections. Because we rarely carry change alone — and connection carries us.
